About W Grose

The name Grose is one of the oldest and most well respected names in the motor industry dating back to 1888 when the company was first established by Joseph Grose. In the early year’s a true milestone was achieved when Joseph Grose invented the first non-skid tyre created by riveting steel studs into a leather case to produce vastly improved grip on road surfaces.

The next development in the company saw a move into custom built bodies for various types of vehicle from two seater sports cars to large saloons and box vans. Whatever the customers needs were, a body was tailor made for that particular purpose. Before long the Grose name was known up and down the country as one of the leading names in the automotive industry.

In more recent years the company acquired Skurrays of Swindon which was first established in 1899 and is the oldest Vauxhall Retailer in the country. The Group now comprises of 2 outlets in Northampton and 3 outlets in Swindon representing the General Motors brands of Vauxhall, Chevrolet and Saab.
